Internship Positions:

NONPROFIT FUNDRAISING UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

My Compassion is looking for interns in assisting the Fundraising Department to create and implement the organization’s fundraising efforts. As an intern you will be helping the core team with – events, grants, in-kind donations, donors and Sponsorships.

This internship positions will provide someone with substantial experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, event planning, researching donor prospects, solicitation strategizing, in addition to gaining valuable hands on experience working with one of the nation’s leading medical cannabis nonprofit organizations.

Each intern will be encouraged to take a leadership role in spearheading their project within the objectives of the development department, depending on one’s experience and hours of availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Foundations and Grants:
  • Research new foundations and grants to apply for funding
  • Conduct external research on My Compassions key program priorities to use in writing proposals
  • Help with copy editing of proposals and reports
  • Help in writing minor proposals and reports

Events:

  • Research and develop events in new fundraising markets
  • Assist in Sales and Marketing of tickets, sponsorships and exhibition space
  • Solicit and manage In-kind Donations for Raffles
  • Help with maintaining database records
  • Assist with Marketing and event promotion

Donors & Sponsors:

  • Help with organizing national campaigns
  • Assist in researching potential donors
  • Provide support in sending mailings and invitations
  • Help with maintaining database records
  • Create Telemarketing/Text Campaigns

Each internship position will also have its share of “busy” work including envelope stuffing and administrative duties like file cleaning and data entry.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

Do you know how to get the attention of your peers?  Can you drive an issue on campus, in the classroom or in your social community?  Are you an expert with social media?  If so, you may be interested in building communities, both online and in-person, for one of the top medical cannabis non-profit organizations in the US.  Join us at My Compassion as a Community Outreach Intern and help make a difference.

As a Community Outreach Intern, you will be challenged to handle a variety of responsibilities from social media to event planning to volunteer organization and interaction with the public and donors.  Based on experience, you could also be writing press releases, handling media contacts, and assisting with video productions. You will be assigned critical tasks and get to see your work in action.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating a variety of communications, including press releases, presentations, legislative briefings, volunteer outreach messages, and newsletters
  • Help with My Compassion social media accounts for Community Outreach Projects
  • Assist with planning outreach campaigns and executing video and audio productions

CLINICAL OUTREACH UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

My Compassion’s Clinical Outreach Representative is responsible for connecting with healthcare professionals to provide educational resources about medical cannabis care and build a robust clinical community throughout the region serving patients who are utilizing cannabis for their medical conditions. As the Clinical Outreach Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and managing the following projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide outreach to doctors, clinics and hospitals to educate about medical cannabis
  • Acts as a liaison to the community at medical related events and conferences, promoting CME and CNE courses
  • Gain doctor support and patient participation in My Compassion research studies
  • Develop social media campaigns and webinars that offer interest in accredited CME and CNE
  • Create, maintain and strengthen professional relationships with goal of increasing knowledge and understanding of medical cannabis in the healthcare Industry

Qualifications

CONTENT WRITERS & EDITORIAL UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

We are currently seeking a journalism/content writing intern who will be responsible for writing, editing and publishing interesting stories on medical cannabis and creating digital content for web, mobile and social media.   • Conduct personal interviews, onsite or offsite, through phone or in person, to learn about people’s experiences and their life stories, collect raw materials including interview scripts, photos, images, audios and videos

  • Publish and promote stories through multiple platforms and channels including various social media and blogging sites

DATA COLLECTION UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

My Compassion is seeking a highly motivated Data Collection Intern to join our data collection team. The ideal candidate will be flexible, detail-oriented, and have excellent organizational skills. In addition, you will need to quickly understand changes to collection protocol in response to workflows. S/He should be able to contribute to improvements in data collection projects by identifying bugs in tools and suggesting enhancements. Passion for data, efficiency, and accuracy as well as proactive behavior in addressing issues and problems in a huge plus. Ability to lead and simplify recruiting and training efforts is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an expert in the data collection processes
  • Deliver high quality work under tight deadlines
  • Work autonomously with minimum direction
  • Understand key deliverables and see data collection from start to finish, including preparation, evaluation, quality control
  • Communicate internally with team members to identify issues and propose solutions for long term sustainability of processes

EVENT COORDINATOR UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

My Compassion is looking for a resourceful and organized Event Coordinator Intern who is task-oriented and results-driven. The position will combine administrative duties, research and client support and requires someone who is attentive to detail and a team player. The event coordinator intern will support My Compassions with its events including planning, implementation, logistics, registration, conducting market research, list creation, database management and providing on-site event assistance.  

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative assistance including: calendaring, web updates, email reminders, and more.
  • Print and organize name tags and prepare any materials before an event.
  • Staff events including: set up signs, display name tags, assure proper room set-up, greet guests and handle emergencies.
  • Safeguard My Compassion supplies and materials, both at events and in-between.
  • Interact with CEOs, chapter leaders, hosts, sponsors and other parties
  • Coordinate event logistics, including auction/gift bag outreach and event registration
  • Conduct market research, list creation, and database management.
  • Provide on-site event assistance.
  • Support My Compassion administrative duties, including social media scheduling and newsletter creation.
  • Collect and archive client and organization press.
  • Provide additional client support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in event production and coordinating logistics.

The graphic design intern will work with our design department on our numerous publications and collaborate with our fundraising department to create marketing collateral. Our ideal candidate is a quick learner and has a cooperative spirit, but also can work independently.

My Compassion has an opening for an SEO Intern to manage search engine optimization and marketing activities including content strategy, link building and keyword strategy to increase rankings on major search networks. You will also create and manage campaigns on Google.

  • Create PSDs for visual layout of web pages and convert each design into HTML and CSS
  • Maintain and update all JQuery plugins for website
  • Implement and maintain high-quality SEO policies and incorporate them with content produced for the website
  • Remove any “dead” links immediately and respond to issues with site functionality
  • Create mock-ups for proposed project pages and update them as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ professional (paid) web design experience
  • Students majoring in Computer Science, Graphic Design or related field, or 3+ years’ additional experience
  • Knowledge of content marketing a plus
  • Proficiency with ASP.net web forms
  • Advanced Photoshop and Illustrator skills
  • Knowledge of WordPress standards and functionality
  • Professional portfolio with at least 5 designs for internal review

Each intern will be expected to work 15–20 hours per week (this is flexible).

My Compassion is seeking motivated and responsible college students or young professionals looking to gain experience working with a nonprofit. A candidate should have an interest in My Compassions mission to provide medical cannabis education to the public. Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Compensation:

This is a volunteer unpaid internship. We encourage you to use this internship to gain course credit and to seek out “work-study” grants with your college, if that is an option.
