COMMUNITY OUTREACH UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

As a Community Outreach Intern, you will be challenged to handle a variety of responsibilities from social media to event planning to volunteer organization and interaction with the public and donors.  Based on experience, you could also be writing press releases, handling media contacts, and assisting with video productions. You will be assigned critical tasks and get to see your work in action.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in creating a variety of communications, including press releases, presentations, legislative briefings, volunteer outreach messages, and newsletters
• Help with My Compassion social media accounts for Community Outreach Projects
• Assist with planning outreach campaigns and executing video and audio productions
• Use your creative ideas, communication skills and social media expertise to improve My Compassions reach in the community

Qualifications:

• A mature and confident demeanor
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
• Strong writing skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high level of competence
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Knowledge of and experience with Office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Each intern will be expected to work 15–20 hours per week (this is flexible).

CONTENT WRITERS & EDITORIAL UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

Are you a college student interested in gaining hands-on experience in journalism or creative writing while working alongside a passionate team in a fresh, forward-thinking medical cannabis organization? If so, My Compassion wants to hear from you!

We are currently seeking a journalism/content writing intern who will be responsible for writing, editing and publishing interesting stories on medical cannabis and creating digital content for web, mobile and social media. Our ideal candidate is an insightful interviewer; an excellent writer; a great story-teller; a creative thinker; and a courageous doer.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct personal interviews, onsite or offsite, through phone or in person, to learn about people’s experiences and their life stories, collect raw materials including interview scripts, photos, images, audios and videos
• Write, edit and produce stories containing multimedia content
• Curate, categorize and tag metadata to support digital component content management
• Publish and promote stories through multiple platforms and channels including various social media and blogging sites
• Work collaboratively with the rest of the team to write on current projects and events
• Create content for website, social media posting, newsletters, ads and other promotional materials

Qualifications:

Majoring in Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, or other related fields, junior and senior college students preferred.

• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
• Experience with creating multimedia content including, but not limited to, texts, photos, images, audios and videos
  Basic graphic design, photography and videography skills
• Familiar with major social platforms and blog sites
• Comfortable with and proficient in digital technologies and media

EVENT COORDINATOR UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

My Compassion is looking for a resourceful and organized Event Coordinator Intern who is task-oriented and results-driven. The position will combine administrative duties, research and client support and requires someone who is attentive to detail and a team player. The event coordinator intern will support My Compassions with its events including planning, implementation, logistics, registration, conducting market research, list creation, database management and providing on-site event assistance.  

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative assistance including: calendaring, web updates, email reminders, and more.
• Print and organize name tags and prepare any materials before an event.
• Staff events including: set up signs, display name tags, assure proper room set-up, greet guests and handle emergencies.
• Safeguard My Compassion supplies and materials, both at events and in-between.
• Interact with CEOs, chapter leaders, hosts, sponsors and other parties
• Coordinate event logistics, including auction/gift bag outreach and event registration
• Conduct market research, list creation, and database management.
• Provide on-site event assistance.
• Support My Compassion administrative duties, including social media scheduling and newsletter creation.
• Collect and archive client and organization press.
• Provide additional client support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in event production and coordinating logistics.
• Previous experience conducting market research, list creation and database management.
• Highly organized, able to work independently, and see a task through to completion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Social media savvy
• Interest in project management, event production, and strategic marketing.
• Interest in non-profit management and fundraising
• Expert in Google Docs, Sheets, Forms
• Must be a college student or recent graduate.
• Must be in MI and available in person during events

NONPROFIT PROGRAM MANAGEMENT UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

• Spearhead marketing and outreach, including completing newsletter, press releases, and maintaining media contacts. This includes creating marketing materials and writing stories for local media outlets that publicize what services My Compassion provides to our community
• Develop relationships in various sectors in community
• Respond to, assist, and advocate for clients
• Independently recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
• Oversight of general office administration

Qualifications:

• Interns developing a master’s degree in public administration, social work or any course linked to this area which is considered for non-profit program manager
• Experience in fundraising and grant-writing.
• Ability to travel to speak to donors, attend conferences and manage program implementation both local and regionally to compensate and featuring its missions.
• Strong organization and time management systems
• Non-profit program manager should have solid interpersonal skills and be able to powerfully and efficiently communicate.

RESEARCH INTERN

My Compassion is looking for research interns to join our team. Our organization is working on exciting new developments in the field of medical cannabis research, and will offer a solid education to interns of all levels, so please apply regardless of your year and experience level.

Responsibilities:

• Recruit test subjects
• Gather data through interviews and/or field observation
• Conduct Surveys
• Assist in developing Protocols
• Active role in technology monitoring including the interaction with companies, database maintenance and report generation
• Develop partnerships with Universities to collaborate on medical cannabis research

Qualifications:

• Interns should be Biology, Immunology, or Microbiology majors, Pre-med or Science
• Excellent research and presentation skills, knowledge of statistics, and experience with related software such as SPSS and Microsoft Access

WEBSITE SEO UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

My Compassion has an opening for an SEO Intern to manage search engine optimization and marketing activities including content strategy, link building and keyword strategy to increase rankings on major search networks. You will also create and manage campaigns on Google.

Responsibilities:

• Perform and document SEO audit for website
• Develop campaigns to boost website search results
• Monitor and document progress
• Perform SEO optimization, including keyword research, building links
• Develop web page copy, H1 tags, meta descriptions, section pages, and feature description pages
• Develop copy and content using strategic keywords
